Women's Bags

Every good day on the coast starts with one decision: what goes in the bag. A towel, a book you never quite finish, sunglasses, suncream and the hat you take off at lunch. Glamour Sands carries all of it, in soft Giza cotton terry with red handles and a cream Baindoux label. Pick your size and colour below.

Glamour Sands

Glamour Sands is the Baindoux beach bag. The body is Giza cotton terry, the same fabric as the clothes, so the bag feels like part of the outfit rather than an accessory added at the door. Long handles trimmed in red sit easily on the shoulder, a red zip closes the front pocket for keys and a phone, and a side pocket keeps the sunglasses within reach.

  • Glamour Sands S: for the beach club, the market and the walk along the quay.
  • Glamour Sands L: for a full day on the boat, or a weekend that starts at the airport.

A day on the Riviera, in one bag

Picture Villefranche-sur-Mer at ten in the morning. You walk down the quay with Glamour Sands over your shoulder, a towel and a bottle of water inside, and step onto the tender for a day at sea. By lunch the bag sits on the teak deck next to a bucket of rosé. By evening it hangs from a restaurant chair in the old port, a little sandy, still looking right.

The outfits for Capri and what to wear in the South of France follow the same idea: one bag that moves from the water to the table. That is the essence of a quiet luxury outfit. Nothing shouts, and everything has a reason to be there.

The tote: a bag for carrying things

The word tote means to carry. The verb appeared in Virginia in the 1670s, and by 1900 a tote bag was a plain, open bag for groceries, tools or ice. The shape had one job: hold a lot and get out of the way.

The beach gave the tote its elegance. From the Hamptons to the Riviera, an open cotton bag with strong handles became the standard for a day by the sea. Baindoux keeps that honest shape and gives it the finish of a garment.

Why terry instead of leather

Leather dislikes sand, salt and suncream. Terry takes all three in its stride: the sand shakes out, a damp towel does no harm and the bag goes into the wash at the end of the summer. Giza cotton, with its extra-long fibre, keeps the loops soft and the colour deep through a season of sun. The properties of Giza cotton and the Baindoux craftsmanship explain why the bag still looks new in September.

Match the bag to the outfit

Glamour Sands shares its palette with the clothes. Carry it in the same tone as one of the women’s dresses for a calm look, or as the one soft neutral next to a navy jacket and white shorts. A bucket hat for women with a red detail picks up the red of the handles and finishes the set.

Order online or see it in store

You order Glamour Sands online with the delivery and returns terms on one page. In one of the Baindoux stores you compare the S and the L against your own things before the first trip to the beach.

Frequently asked questions

What is a tote bag?

A tote bag is a large, open bag with two parallel handles. The name comes from the verb to tote, meaning to carry, and the bag has been in use since around 1900.

A good beach bag holds a towel and a change of clothes, resists sand and salt, and washes clean. Terry and cotton canvas both meet those three demands.

Shake out the sand, turn the bag inside out and wash it at 30°C on a gentle cycle. Reshape the bag while damp and let it dry in the air.
